As the school year ends, summer approaches. The trends in summer fashion, aesthetics, and more change drastically as the years go by. We went from our obsession with mustaches and teal in 2012 to the fascination with star pimple patch acne stickers in 2024.
As the school year ends, summer approaches. The trends in summer fashion, aesthetics, and more change drastically as the years go by. We went from our obsession with mustaches and teal in 2012 to the fascination with star pimple patch acne stickers in 2024.
In general, the fashion outlook for summer ‘24 is determined by the thoughts of others, as well as what the public deems as fun and fresh. For example, last summer, sheer tops were in along with micro shorts and we thought it would be interesting if we tried to predict the trends for this summer, based on the opinions of seniors and what we have seen as popular right now, and provide a short blurb about some of them.
Here, we introduce our forecast for the summer 24’ trends.
1. Jorts
Jorts have been sort of popular, but now they have blown up! Everywhere you look, you see someone wearing them, no matter gender or age. You can usually see them paired with a tank top, tube top, or baby tee.
2. Dressing like a Grandpa
Grandpa style has been very popular over the last 2 years, but the style always makes a huge more intense comeback during the summer, especially with jorts being in style and shoes like New Balance, Adidas, and Asics
3. DIY Lash Extensions
We come from a “Do It Yourself” generation. We learned how to do gel x or acrylic nails at home, and now we are learning how to do our own lash extensions. The fact of the matter is, lash extensions are so expensive, especially if you're getting them regularly. Sure it takes time and practice, but the teens of our generation are really getting the hang of it. DIY lash extensions for the win.
4. French Tips
French Tips have always been a huge popular nail style. What's not love? It's a nice basic nail style that makes you look clean and elegant. Recently French Tips have made an even bigger outbreak as there are now different styles you can add on to the nails such as different colors other than white on the tips, gems, and glitter to make it your own.
5. 2010’s Music
2010’s music is making a comeback, mostly because teens were all very young during that time. It gives us a glimpse of a time where we felt care-free. Overall music from the 2010’s has good memories and vibes attached to it, and most of the people in our generation love listening to it nowadays for those exact reasons.
6. Stanley mugs
Stanley mugs are perfect for the summer! They keep your water cold and refreshing for those hot days, and they are easy to transport. Not to mention, almost everyone has one, so it's definitely going to stay popular throughout the summer.
7. Summer Reads
Books about summer romances and vacations are the go-to when you want to romanticize your summer. It's perfect when you want to read by the beach or in a park to set the tone for your own summer.
8. Outdoor Movies
Something about the summer-time makes everyone want to spend less time in a crampy, hot movie theater and more time in a trendy outdoor/rooftop movie theater. Outdoor movies are something that have been gaining popularity because it's nice to feel the summer breeze in your hair while you scarf down pizza with your friends, with a nice movie in the background.
9. Journaling
Whether you're digitally journaling or writing, it's something that we all do. People regularly journal about their thoughts, their day, experiences, and life.
