Florals in Fashion

“It was really beautiful to see so much vivid natural life right in the middle of the Bronx because most of the areas in the city don't have much greenery and if they do, it isn’t as vibrant, which is why this experience was something to hold on to.”

What I'm going to be writing about is my experience at the Botanical Garden watching The Orchid Show: Florals in Fashion.  The Orchid Show: Florals in Fashion is a fashion-inspired celebration of all things orchids, meaning that all flowers and designs presented at the conservatory would be related to orchids.

When my girlfriend and I first arrived at the event at 2 pm, we noticed how huge the Enid A. Haupt conservatory really was, with a large amount of space for indoor plants and flowers that needed specific temperatures to stay well and healthy.  My girlfriend and I went to the special event at the Botanical Garden to enjoy the creations that fashion designers made in the Rain Forest and Desert parts of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.

The Rain Forest area was really wonderful because there were many different unique plants that were beautiful, full of various colors and designs that made them pop and blossom. While I was at the Florals in Fashion greenhouse, I spotted a gorgeous waterfall in the Rain Forest area. There were such elegant flowers to look at while you make your way through the different sections.  Walking through the rainforest area was thrilling because I was able to see the beauty behind nature and how fascinating the orchids were blossoming at this lovely springtime of the year. There were many kinds of flowers present; some trees even had fruits growing from the branches, giving me inspiration to grow fruits and vegetables of my own.

What caught me and my girlfriend’s attention was how detailed and nice the orchid sculptures were, and how they used different styles of art. Some orchid sculptures were of Women, Frogs, and Aliens, which gave the experience of viewing them in person, which was kind of a trippy feeling that also made me feel surprised. It was really hot in certain areas of the rainforest part since the temperature had to match the humidity that most plants needed which made the conservatory very hot and clustered.

At the desert side of the Orchid Show there were many different types of aloe plants giving you a shocking reaction since you get amazed by the variety of flowers present when you're strolling around the venue. Certain areas of the plants and flowers were kind of smelly, which was particularly noticeable when you were cramped in a space. Many people who came to the botanical garden event were either teenagers, middle aged or very old, giving an overall calming vibe. This experience was really exciting because families, friends, and couples were able to capture special moments around beautiful orchids, promising a great memory to treasure. Our favorite part of the  Enid A. Haupt conservatory was definitely the Rain Forest part because it had way more colors and detail with the given designs of many sculptures. Also the orchids there were very gorgeous and eye-catching, leaving a beautiful memory to savor.

The Orchid Show: Florals In Fashion had a lot of awesome sculptures that had I never really seen before, and when I first encountered them I was blown away due to the diverse designs that were done by the talented creators at that moment.  It was really beautiful to see so much vivid natural life right in the middle of the Bronx because most of the areas in the city don't have much greenery and if they do, it isn’t as vibrant, which is why this experience was something to hold on to. I dearly appreciate plant life. This is why now even when I walk through my neighborhood, I am reminded of what the green life around my area can absolutely look like if the community was to come together.
